My Baby is 13!!!!

Drew turned 13 on May 11.  I can't believe I'm a mom of a teenager.  Time as gone by so quickly.

Look it that cute picture of him just 5 years ago.  I really don't know where the time has gone.  I do know that it has been filled with him having the time of his life.  Having fun with his family and friends.  Getting to do the things he loves, like playing sports and going on new adventures and learning new things. Going to school and excelling in all of his subjects.

He had a great birthday with a bunch of his friends.  He had 6 boys sleep over on Saturday.  I went and picked everyone up Saturday afternoon and once we were back at the house they all went and played outside.  They played basketball and capture the flag and whatever else they could find to do.

We had pizza and cheesy bread for dinner and of course birthday cake for dessert.  Then once it got dark they all came in the house and just played Xbox and hung out for awhile and then they watched a movie.  They also got to make their own sundaes for a snack.

They all found a place to sleep and then the next morning we made a big breakfast for all of them of pancakes, bacon and fruit.  Wow can boys eat!!!

He had a great day and night with all of his friends.

Here are some pics of the party.  They aren't too good since all the boys didn't want their pictures taken and Hailey decided to be funny and make faces in all the pictures.

Report Cards

Drew and Hailey got their first report cards of the year a week or so ago.

Both of the kids did absolutely wonderful and we are so proud of them.

Drew

Science            A
Math                A
English            A
Reading           A
Social Studies  A

Hailey

Science             B
Math                 A
English             B
Reading            A
Social Studies   A

Hailey was a little bummed about the 2 B's.  Especially the English mark since it was only 1 point away from being an A.

We told her that as long as she is trying her hardest then she is doing great.  She said she is really going to try even harder this period to make all A's.

The kids took their report cards to Dairy Queen over vacation for their free meal.  For all A's you get a hamburger, fries and drink. Four A's you get a fry and drink and one A you get a drink.  You also get the meal if you have perfect attendance which Hailey had so she was able to get a full meal too.

Check back in 9 weeks to see how they do on their next report card.

Kids & Sports

Football is finally over for Drew.  It was such a busy season.  Practice schedule was Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and games were on Thursdays.

The season didn't go so well. They actually didn't win one game but the boys played their hearts out and did a good job.

Here are some shots of Drew playing. He was number 4 this year.

Drew has decided not to play any other sports this year so I'm sure he will be playing football again for next season.

Hailey is right in the middle of her soccer season.  She is playing for the
Y again on the same U12 team as last year.  Her team is doing great.  They have either won or tied for all of their games so far.

Hopefully they will go to the championship again this year and win.

Kids First Day of School

3 1/2 weeks behind on my postings but I guess better late than never.

Hailey & Andrew, 1st day of school 2012

This year Andrew is going into 7th grade.  Hailey is going into 4th grade which is a big step because 4th grade is middle school here.

The kids have been in school for 3 1/2 weeks now and they are both doing great!!

The middle school has a new site on the computer that I can go on and check the kids grades. It is awesome.  I can see each assignment, what grade they received for the assignment or test and then also the grade average up to that date.

Andrew currently has all A's in all of his grades and Hailey has mostly A's and a couple of B's.  I'm sure the longer they are in school the better their grades will be.  Once they have been back into a routine for awhile will help and also getting used to the amount of work they are getting.  Andrew and Hailey are both getting much more class work/homework than what they had done their previous years.

Here's a couple more pictures of the kids from their first day.

Drew Is One Smart Boy!!!

Drew finished up 6th grade this past week and of course is moving onto 7th grade next year.

Jamie, I & Hailey headed over to Drew's school on Wednesday afternoon to attend Drew's school's Awards Day.

Drew received two awards.  His first award was a certificate for achieving a 98 on the TCAP state wide testing for Social Studies.

Drew receiving his certificate.

He also received a plaque for achieving all A's for the year.

Drew along with the other 9 6th grade students who also received an all A's plaque

These are the two awards that Drew received on Awards Day.  After the ceremony we were able to get his report card. Of course we knew he had all A's again from the plaque that he received. We are super proud of him and so happy he got such great grades this year.

Along with the awards he got he also was invited into the Beta Club.  The Beta Club is a private club in school that invites students who achieve and keep a 95 or above grade average.

We all went to the Beta Club induction on Friday morning.

Each member received a certificate, membership card and pin.  Drew will need to keep is grade level for all classes at a 95 or above in 7th grade or he will be asked to leave the club.

We can't wait to get the newspaper as they were there taking pictures and it will be published in the local newspaper either next week or the following week after.

Happy 12 Birthday to Drew!!!

Friday was Andrew's birthday.  He turned 12.  I can't believe how fast the years have gone since he was once my little chubby baby.

Drew at 6 weeks old

Drew started his birthday off with the radio announcing a Happy 12th Birthday to him, which he loved.  Also the radio station picks one person out of all the birthday people to win a gift certificate to a local Mexican restaurant for a free lunch or dinner for 2.  Guess who won?

You got it, Drew!!!  That just really made his day.

After school we went out for dinner but since none of us were too hungry we just went and had some appetizers at a local restaurant called Logan's Steak House.  One of Andrew's new favorite foods is buffalo wings, so that is what he ordered.

Drew & I at dinner

After dinner we had to go to Hailey's soccer practice but once we got home we had cake and sang Happy Birthday to Drew.

I wasn't sure what type of cake he wanted so I got him a few different kinds.  It was actually cool because then we all could have a little of each kind.

Drew with all his birthday cakes

Of course we sang and he made a wish and blew out his candles.

We can't forget his present also.  This year Drew wanted an Ipod Touch, since that is a pretty big gift we decided to give him money towards him saving for one.

We can't be more proud of the young man Drew is turning into.  He is a straight A student in school.  In fact, he just was invited to join the Junior Beta Club.  A exclusive club in school for students who hold an average of 95 or higher in all studies.

He is also funny as can be and can make anyone laugh with his silly jokes.  He loves to play football and of course like anyone else his age Xbox.   One things he hates, is firewood.  Does not like having anything to do with it but of course he helps when its time.

I just couldn't resist, here is one more picture of Drew when he was little.
