New Year's

This year we rang in New Year's with friends as we always have done in the past. This year it was with our new circle of friends that we have made in TN.

We went to Lisa and Trace Finch's house for the evening.  Trace was Drew's football coach and Hailey's soccer coach. They have 4 kids but 2, Troy and Ian are close to our kids ages.  Troy is in 7th and Ian is in 5th.  Ian plays football with Drew and soccer with Hailey.  Lisa was my cheering partner at all the football games because she likes to yell like me.

The Smallwood's were also there.  We met Sonja and Jeff through football as they both were on the board for Drew's league.  They have a daughter Haleigh who is 15 and a son Orry who is 11.  Drew's goes to school and plays football and basketball with Orry and Hailey plays soccer with Orry also.  Haleigh who is just the sweetest girl also brought her boyfriend Shelby.  Shelby is a great young man AND he is a goat farmer.  I've gotten a chance to sit and pick his brain about his goats and have learned some new things with talking to him.  I'm hoping that if we ever go anywhere that he will be available to watch our goats as he is very responsible and would do a great job.  Also with Sonja was her niece Delaney.  She is in 5th grade and goes to the same school as Drew.  Hailey loves to hang out with Delaney when we see her.  Delaney's mom, Jennifer was able to stop by for a bit too as she was on call for her Medic/EMT job.

The Brown's were also there.  Rodney and Carmen along with their kids, Noah and Emma.  Noah plays football with Drew and all the other kids and Emma is in kindergarten.  Hailey and Emma love to play togethor when we see each other.

We also met some new people.  Greg who was a coach for the JV football team and his son Hunter.  Gregs dad was also there.  Not to sure of his real name but everyone called him Hooks.
Also there was Chris.  He knows the Finch's from church and homeschooling.  He had lots of funny stories to tell.

They had a huge fire going on outside, lots of great food and we also played some cards.  The kids went off and played outside most of the night, finally coming in around 11pm when it started to get too cold.  I only saw them when they came in to eat.  Drew & Hailey said they had a great time playing with all their friends.

We are so thankful that we have met such a great group of people that we have become friends with.  Of course we missed all of our all friends that we usually spent New Year's with.  Maybe sometime we will be able to go to MA for New Year's to celebrate with them again.

I wish I had thought to get some pictures but I was too busy talking and playing cards.
One of mt new year's resolutions this year is to plan a better garden then last year. I just requested a seed catalog to look through to see what we are going to plant this year.  I am trying to have a garden that will produce more different types of veggies and have the garden produce longer than last year.

Last year I learned that you need to be selfish sometimes to have true happiness.  Life isn't about making everyone happy.  It's about trying to be the best person you can be within your means.  I will be living 2012 the same way.  I hope that the New Year, 2012 will bring everyone what they are looking for.
